What is a NAATI CCL Test?

Credential Community Language Test by NAATI is a test that asks you to translate and interpret the dialogues from the English language to the LoTE or vice-versa. It tests your grammatical skills, sentence formation skills, pronunciation skills, and sees if you are compatible with the English language.

NAATI CCL Test gives you 5 PR points for Australia on clearing the exam. It can be taken in more than 45+ languages which you can select at the time of application.

CCL Test Format

In the test, a candidate is asked questions based on general topics like health, legal, community etc. and it expects the candidate to understand the conversation between two people and wants them to translate and interpret the exact meaning of the conversation.

You are given two dialogues of 300 words each in English or LoTE (Language other than English) each 50% and you need to translate it from the English Language to LoTE or Vice-versa. The dialogues will have segments of 35 words or less.

The dialogue will start, and once the segment ends, you will hear a chime sound after which you must begin to record your answer. The examiner will restart the dialogue once you finish recording your response. You get only 20 minutes to answer the test.

Remember : Begin your response within 5 seconds of the chime.

After The Test - Test Marking And Result

Your CCL Test will be independently marked by two examiners who will evaluate your test based on your language quality. If you make errors, there will be mark deduction, and the errors can be grammatical, pronunciation errors, vocabulary (repetition of same words).

Each dialogue in the test is marked out of 45 marks and the minimum marks required to clear the exam is 63 out of 9s0; with a minimum score of 29 marks in each question.

The CCL test result will be declared in 4-6 weeks of the test date and are valid for three years from the date of issue. If you fail the exam, you can retake it as many times as you want.
